WhatsApp sharing data with Facebook

BN-PO354_0825wh_P_20160825105746WhatsApp recently updated its terms & conditions, as well as its privacy policy. Terms, conditions and privacy policies are jargons that people really don’t care. In case of tech products, this something you must be concerned about. The detailed privacy policy and terms consists of lot of technical terms. WhatsApp will start handing over its user data to Facebook, the social media giant.

An important part from the updated terms and conditions reads “By coordinating more with Facebook, we will be able to do things like track basic metrics about how often people use our services and better fight spam on WhatsApp,and by connecting your phone number with Facebook’s systems, Facebook can offer better friend suggestions and show you more relevant ads if you have an account with them.” This means that Facebook will be able to use WhatsApp accounts and track usage habits, thus helping social network provide them friend suggestions and personalized advertising.

Public has already started pouring their outrage on the internet. But it isn’t surprising as Facebook is a business and like all of them it needs to make money. Facebook even earlier had made policies and decisions that go directly against the idea of user’s online privacy.
